Unlock Puzzle-A Logical Game

 Unlock Puzzle-A Logical Game

Unlock Puzzle-A logical game is an interesting puzzle game that helps one to improve the logical thinking and reasoning abilities. This helps the user to boost the power of the brain.

The Game is all about to unlock a Lock which is locked with a three digits code. The user has to apply the logic and crack the code based on the hints given by the Game. The Game has basically three different levels: Simple, Intermediate and Difficult. At every level the user will be given hint message using which the user has to derive the Lock code and unlock it. The hint message has two parts: i. a three digit hint code that may contain the possible digits from the lock code and a ii. hint text that informs the user  that how  many numbers in the hint code are correct (which means match with the numbers in the lock code-answer code) and also tells about their position w.r.t the numbers in the lock code.

Let's understand it with an example. Let's say the lock is locked by the system using a three digit number:135. And the hint message we received, say, Hint1: "253-Two nos. correct, Nothing Well Placed". In the above hint1 there are two parts, the hint code: "253" and the hint text: "Two nos. correct, Nothing Well Placed". It's clear from the hint code that there are two numbers such as 5 and 3 match with two numbers in the lock code (135). Hence, the first part of the hint text says that "Two nos. correct". Lets see the next part of the hint text: "Nothing Well Placed" which means that the numbers in the hint code which have a match with the numbers in the lock code are not positioned properly. Which is obvious. Since the correct position of 5 in the lock code is at three (3rd position in 135) but in the hint code (253) it is present at 2nd place. Hence its position doesn't match. Similar is the case with the number 3. Its correct position in the lock code is at 2nd place where as it is in the 3rd place in the hint code.

Ex2: Let's take another example. Let's have the lock code: 135 and the hint message, say: "936-One no. correct, one well placed". So, we have hint code received is 936 which has one number i.e 3 match with a number in the answer code (135). Therefore, the 1st part of the hint text says "One no. correct". Now, let's see the hint code once again, the position of the number 3 in the hint code (2nd position) matches with that of the lock code. That is what the other part of the hint text explains: "one well placed".
Ex3: Lock code: 135, hint message: "325-Two nos. correct, one well placed". Yes, you are right, 3 and 5 match but only 5 is at correct place.
In this way, for one lock code different hint messages will be given. The user has to derive the numbers of the lock code and their correct position from the hint messages using his own logic.

We'll discuss this in the next section "how to derive the lock code from the hint messages".

Let's understand each level more thoroughly.

Simple Level:

simple level
At this level the user will see a Lock Image which is locked with a three digits code. On the lock image there are ways to enter the numbers of a three digits code by scrolling the numbers.
Below the image, there are two buttons "Unlock" and "Next Hint". Below these buttons Hint messages are displayed (See the figure). At this level there are all total five predefined hints (system given hints) are given out of which only three will be displayed initially. And the remaining two hints will be displayed when user presses "Next Hint" button. Now, based on the hints given, the user has to derive the numbers of the lock code and enter them in the lock image by scrolling the numbers. Once you derive the numbers and enter them on the lock image try to press the "unlock" button. If the numbers you entered match with the numbers with the answer code then the lock will open and a "Well Done" message will be displayed. In this way, the user will be given three chances to unlock.

Once, you are done you can play a new game by pressing the "New Game" button present at the top left corner. This will generate a new lock code and corresponding new hint messages.

Intermediate Level:

At this level the user will be given total 2 system defined hints which will be available and displayed when he presses "Next Hint" button.

Based on the hints given, you have to unlock it. When the code you enter doesn't match with that of the lock code, then a hint message will be displayed based on the code you have entered. Ex: In the image given, the user has not taken the system given hints, but tried to unlock it by entering the code 319. So, a hint message is displayed saying "319-One no. correct, One well Placed". In this way the user has to derive other two numbers from remaining 7 digits (0, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8).
The user can first take the system given hints by pressing the next hint button and then try to unlock it. This would help him to derive the numbers of the lock easily.

Difficult Level:

At this level, there are no system given hints available. The user has to derive the three digits numbers from various combinations of the 10 digits (0 to 9). Here, there is a chance that duplicate numbers can be part of the lock code, I mean, the lock code may not contain distinct numbers.

Based on the code the user enters, hint message will be displayed telling the user whether the number he has entered matches with that of the answer code or not. In this way, the user can derive the numbers of the lock code by entering various permutations and combinations of the three digit numbers.

The rating and accuracy are the metrics to measure the performance of the user. Accuracy is the correct number of unlocks made per total number of games played. The rating is based on the number of hints taken to unlock the code. Rating gives weights on the past performance and present performance. Lesser hints and unlock clicks mean more rating.
